Il semble cependant que pendant qu&rsquo;ils essayaient de voler la fontaine, l&rsquo;horloge de la biblioth\u00e8que de Finya sonna les heures en faisant bouger les deux personnages repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s dans les yeux de l&rsquo;horloge ; pensant donc avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couverts, les habitants d&rsquo;Altamura s&rsquo;enfuirent.<\/p>\n<p>Poursuivez votre visite par l&rsquo;\u00e9glise San Michele delle Grotte, l&rsquo;une des plus anciennes \u00e9glises troglodytes de Gravina, actuellement d\u00e9consacr\u00e9e, qui se dresse dans l&rsquo;ancien quartier de Fondovito, sur les rives du ruisseau Gravina.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9glise San Michele est li\u00e9e \u00e0 un \u00e9v\u00e9nement historique tragique : les habitants de Gravina, envahis par les Sarrasins vers le Xe si\u00e8cle, se r\u00e9fugi\u00e8rent dans le temple, o\u00f9 ils furent impitoyablement massacr\u00e9s. L&rsquo;\u00e9glise est ensuite rest\u00e9e longtemps d\u00e9sacralis\u00e9e et a \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9e comme cimeti\u00e8re ; en effet, aujourd&rsquo;hui encore, on peut voir \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur un grand nombre de cr\u00e2nes et d&rsquo;ossements humains appartenant aux martyrs de Gravina.<\/p>\n<p>De l\u00e0, continuez par une visite de la cath\u00e9drale actuelle de la ville, la co-cath\u00e9drale de Santa Maria Assunta. Construit au bord du ravin que la ville surplombe, v\u00e9ritable chef-d&rsquo;\u0153uvre de l&rsquo;\u00e9poque normande, le principal lieu de culte de Gravina est riche en \u0153uvres d&rsquo;art qui vous laisseront sans voix.
